If you’d like a little more land, love mature landscaping and live oaks, and even a few rolling hills, then University Acres may be the right place for your next home. The lot sizes here are bigger than most of the neighborhoods nearby. And, in exchange you’re likely to find older homes, most of which have a classic Louisiana feel. Some of the homes have been updated, some not, and on occasion you’ll also find some new construction. The land here is so valuable that from time to time you’ll find a lot where a home once stood that has replaced with new construction. The neighborhood is a Baton Rouge “gem,” and one of the many reasons why the homes near LSU are so popular.
If you live in University Acres it’s just a few minutes to LSU but far enough away so that you don’t feel like you’re in the student housing mix. Of course you’re not far from Baton Rouge’s major shopping, dining, and healthcare providers. But, what a lot of residents in the area enjoy are the small local shops and restaurants around the corner. There’s even an Our Lake of the Lake After Hours Clinic and several grocery stores including the Walmart Neighborhood Market, Winn Dixie, and a new Rouses Market.
The homes in University Acres command a premium and as you walk or drive around the neighborhood you’ll understand why.
