Baton Rouge is home to outstanding designers, architects, and builders who’ve created beautiful homes reflecting Louisiana’s unique culture, tradition, and style. Some of the areas most renowned architects include A. Hays Town, Al Jones, Jairo Leon, Cockfleld Jackson, and C.M. Oliver. Their homes and others’ grace our community. Old and new, these residences are the “best of” Baton Rouge.
Architectural features you’re likely to find include: slate roofs with ridge tiles, large gallery porches, 13 ft – 14 ft ceilings with wood beams, arched doorways, walls of large windows, antique cypress doors and cabinetry, antique brick floors, old wide plank heart of pine wood floors, gas lanterns, landscaped courtyards, fountains, pools, and outdoor living areas. Even our new construction and contemporary homes are influenced by these design elements. It’s distinctive. You know it when you see it. And, I’ve come to truly appreciate it’s beauty.
There are many options available. If you’re interested in a golf course or country club community, then you might want to consider Country Club of Louisiana, Santa Maria, or University Club Plantation. For gated communities not far from LSU The Pond on Hart’s Mill or The Province at Moss Side may have what you’re looking for. Bocage, Jefferson Place, or Moss Side Place are premiere locations closer to downtown and LSU. If you’re considering a large estate home on a large lot farther away from town you might want to consider Mallard Lakes.
