Every so often a home becomes available in Moss Side Place. It’s just a few streets … Pikes Lane, Burden Lane, and Moss Side Lane. The neighborhood is tucked behind the Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center off of Perkins Road. The homes are on some of the largest lots “in town” and were designed and built by area icons including A. Hays Town and Al Jones. Some have been photographed and appear in iconic publications of traditional Louisiana homes. The architectural features, landscaping and old live oak trees are simply beautiful.
Some of the homes in Moss Side Place were built over 30 – 40 years ago and they don’t change hands very often. But when they do you might want to give it serious consideration. Even if in need of updating, it’s hard to find anything comparable because the land is so valuable. In the years since the neighborhood was established, Baton Rouge’s Biomedical Corridor has been built all around. Our Lady of the Lake is now Louisiana’s largest private hospital. The Pennington Biomedical Center, The Baton Rouge Clinic, General Health, The NeuroMedical Center, and The Surgical Specialty Center are a few minutes away. There are multiple offices and private medical practices throughout the area. Rouzan, one of the “hottest” neighborhoods in Baton Rouge, is right up the street and being built on some of the few remaining undeveloped acres in Baton Rouge.
