Development at Country Club of Louisiana began in the mid-1980s. It was founded by some of Baton Rouge’s most recognized and influential families along with Jack Nicklaus – yes, he was an investor who not only had a hand in designing the golf course but also the the streetscape and the plantation-style clubhouse.
The grounds are simply beautiful and impeccably maintained. The gated entry is always staffed. And, from the moment you enter you know you’re someplace very special.
The homes here are in harmony with the surroundings. There are strict architectural guidelines and an active homeowners association. There are over 700 homes here. Many have been built by Baton Rouge’s finest builders and are valued upward of $1 million and then some.
All homeowners are required to pay homeowners association dues, however, club membership is not required to live here. And, there are different classes of memberships – social and golf. Either will give you access to the clubhouse, dining, tennis, swimming, and social activities.
At the time it was built the Country Club of Louisiana may have felt to some to be “too far out.” Today, not so much. From here you can get to LSU on Highland Road or I-10. Downtown is around a 15 – 20 minute commute. The areas leading healthcare providers, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, General Health, and Woman’s Hospital are also no more than 15 minutes away.
