The developers of The Province at Moss Side knew they were on to something. It’s just one street with luxury homes on small lots. In some respects it was the precursor to Settlement at Willow Grove. It was developed by the same developer, Richard Carmouche, and features some of the same builders including Richard Carmouche, Chuck Dupree, and Daryl May.
The first home sales at The Province at Moss Side were in 2004. It’s one of just a handful of gated communities near
LSU and down the street from Moss Side Place. It’s not mixed use and there’s no back alley access here. But these are “low maintenance” luxury homes tucked away in what is now the Biomedical Corridor. Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and the Pennington Biomedical Research Center are 5 minutes away, even in heavy traffic. And now, you could walk to Sprouts Farmers Market from here. You may not want to cross Perkins Road that way, but you get the idea.
What makes it special? It’s the homes, the location, and the style of architecture. And, then there’s that terrific design sense of the architects and builders. These homes have high ceilings on the first and second floors, brickwork inside and out, porches, gas lights, and steeply pitched roofs – it’s signature Louisiana. The setting, entrance, and landscaping complement the construction.
There are only 38 homes in The Province of Moss Side and they don’t become available often. Keep this neighborhood on your watch list so you have an opportunity to give it your consideration.
